Geelong mayor Darryn Lyons has been thrown from a galloping horse while filming a tourism video at Barwon Heads on Monday.
Cr Lyons, who was dressed in full mayoral regalia, escaped with minor injuries.
He says he has been examined by a doctor and is resting at home.
The flamboyant former paparazzi boss had been riding the horse on Thirteenth Beach in Barwon Heads as part of a tourism campaign, before falling off and reportedly straining his shoulder and neck.
‘‘What a day!’’ Cr Lyons said on social media.
‘‘Fell off a galloping horse ... resting at home under doc’s orders, which I’m finding very hard.’’
