Home of Nine News presenter, Maroons star targeted in attempted break-in

By Cameron Atfield

A south-east Queensland television journalist and her former State of Origin star husband have had a close call with armed intruders on the Gold Coast, with CCTV footage showing two offenders stalking their Burleigh home.

Nine Gold Coast journalist and expectant mother Dominique Loudon was asleep with her husband, former Maroons star Martin Lang, when the pair entered their property.

“I’m pregnant. I’m having a baby in a month. If they’d come in, I don’t know how I would have been able to protect myself,” she told her colleagues at Nine.

The thieves broke into Loudon’s car, went through the glove box and console and stole a remote control unit for the property’s sliding electronic front gate.

Loudon said Lang, who played in eight Origin matches along with stints at Cronulla and Penrith, was “seething” at the intrusion.

“Martin was very concerned, if they did manage to break in, how he would have reacted,” she said.

Loudon also had some advice for residents.

“Please just be so security conscious at the moment, make sure everything’s locked,” she said.

“Do a double check before you go to sleep at night.”
