UK YouTuber Yung Filly admits speeding through High Wycombe while on bail

By Rebecca Peppiatt

Famous British YouTuber Yung Filly has made another appearance in a Perth court after he admitted speeding through Perth’s east while on bail for rape charges.

Yung Filly, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, was charged in October with raping and choking a woman in her 20s in a Hillarys hotel room while on his Australian tour.

However, while on bail last month the 29-year-old was caught driving at 158km/h on Roe Highway in High Wycombe, leading to his car being impounded and further charges of reckless driving.

Barrientos appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday, where his lawyer Joanne Oliver said her client would be entering an endorsed plea of guilty and asked for the matter to be adjourned through to January to be heard alongside his charges of assault occasioning bodily harm, impeding a person’s normal breathing, and sexual penetration without consent.

Those charges, which Barrientos has pleaded not guilty to, relate to an alleged incident that occurred in his hotel room after he performed at Bar1 in Hillarys on September 27.

Barrientos continued his tour in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast but was arrested in Queensland and extradited to WA on October 9.

He has been forced to remain in Perth while he fights the charges – which police prosecutors flagged would revolve around the issue of consent – and cannot communicate with his millions of followers via social media about the case.

Barrientos signed a $100,000 personal undertaking, and a $100,000 surety, but on Thursday asked for his bail to be varied to report to Mandurah Police Station three days a week instead of Northbridge.

The musician boasts 3.2 million followers on Instagram and more than 1.8 million on YouTube.

He will next face court on January 30.
