Police are investigating a series of gunshots fired into a luxury sports car business in Richmond – a business linked to complaints about taking big security deposits from customers and failing to return them.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said it was believed several rounds of shots were fired into Dream Drives Melbourne in Burnley Street about 11.30pm on Friday.

It is believed about nine bullets were shot into the front window of the business.

The spokeswoman said evidence of the shooting was noticed by a passer-by who alerted police about 8.30am on Saturday.

No injuries were reported in the shooting. Police said the investigation was ongoing.

A man purporting to be the solicitor Dream Drives told Fairfax Media the Melbourne branch was not linked to the complaints about the security deposits.
