Man dies after car hits tree in Myrtleford
A man has died after his car struck a tree in the state's north-east.
Police say the man was travelling along the Great Alpine Road in Myrtleford just before 2am on Saturday when his car left the road and hit a tree.
A member of the public found the man's body outside his car at the crash scene.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
The Great Alpine Road is blocked to south-east bound traffic between Myrtleford and Happy Valley Road.
The man's death takes the road toll to 221, compared to 163 last year.
