Brothers accused of woman’s murder believed to be hiding in NSW bush
Update: Police arrested the two men in parkland off Civic Parade at Logan on January 6.
Brothers accused of murdering a woman north of Brisbane before Christmas have been identified by police and may be hiding out in northern NSW.
Arrest warrants have been issued for 29-year-old Codye Thomson and 32-year-old Kaine Thomson-Gleeson, whose images were released by police last week in relation to the alleged murder.
Chloe Jade Mason – also known as Ceejay – was found shot on the footpath of Railway Parade in Caboolture on the night of December 22. The 23-year-old was declared dead at the scene.
Moreton District Detective Inspector David Harbison confirmed on Friday one of the brothers lived on the street, and both had been interviewed by police following the alleged murder before they fled.
“They’re believed to be currently in hiding,” he said.
“They know they’re wanted for the murder of Chloe so we fear they’ll go to lengths to avoid apprehension.
“They were seen in Chinderah and then as far south as Kempsey where they visited relatives.”
A rifle was found near the crime scene and is undergoing forensic testing.
New images of a white Holden Commodore station wagon – with registration plates 953 HO4 – were released by police on Friday morning.
Investigators say that the two men might be camping out of the car in northern NSW.
The car was last seen on December 30, but police have appealed for any sightings since then.
“Obviously, these men have travelled some distance from Caboolture to across the border and would’ve interacted with members of the public along their journey,” Detective Inspector Harbison said.
“I would appeal to anyone in northern New South Wales or even those in southern Queensland who believe they may have seen these men or this vehicle to come forward to police.
“Any little bit of information can go far in helping us in this investigation.”
