Man suffers head injury after pair attacked and robbed at South Bank
A 23-year-old man woke in hospital on Saturday morning after he and a 15-year-old boy were attacked and robbed around the South Bank lagoon overnight.
Police said the pair were walking around the pools when approached by a group of strangers shortly before 1am on Saturday.
The group allegedly assaulted the pair and stole several items before leaving the area.
Paramedics were called about 12.50am and treated the 23-year-old for a significant head injury.
He was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition with the 15-year-old, who refused treatment but suffered no major injuries. He was later taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital by a family member.
About 2.40am, police found a 16-year-old Sunnybank boy in Queen Street Mall and charged him with five offences, including two counts each of assault occasioning bodily harm in company and robbery in company, plus one count of affray.
The boy was refused bail and was expected to appear in Brisbane Children’s Court on Saturday.
The investigation was continuing and police urged anyone with information to come forward.
