By Courtney Kruk

A 37-year-old father and his four-year-old son have died after two cars crashed in Brisbane’s east on Sunday morning.

Emergency services responded to reports of a crash in Ransome just before 9am.

Police confirmed a blue Holden Commodore and red Mitsubishi Lancer travelling on Rickertt Road collided at the intersection with Chelsea Road.

The driver of the Holden, a 37-year-old Manly West man, died at the scene.

The four-year-old boy, a passenger in the Holden, was taken to the Queensland Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries but has since died.

Images of the crash appear to show the vehicles T-boned at the intersection, with the Holden badly damaged.

The driver and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi, a 29-year-old Birkdale man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating and police have urged anyone with information or relevant footage to get in contact.
