Wollondilly Shire is on the far southern edge of Sydney’s urban sprawl.
It is home to nine councillors, currently led by Mayor Matt Gould.
The Sydney Morning Herald sent questions to each of the 46 candidates up for election at Wollondilly Shire Council about why they are running and what they want to accomplish if they are elected. Of those, 17 responded.
Their responses have been lightly edited for clarity.
