A man and teenage boy have been found dead with gunshot wounds inside a home on the North Coast of NSW in a suspected murder-suicide.
Police set up a crime scene at the property on Kookaburra Circuit in Yamba after officers responded to reports two bodies had been found about 1.10pm on Thursday.
Police said they found the man, 58, and the boy, 15, dead inside the home. Both had suffered gunshot wounds.
“Initial inquiries indicate the 58-year-old man was a licensed firearms holder and detectives have requested his licensing history from the NSW Firearms Registry,” NSW Police said in a statement on Thursday night.
“While the investigation by officers from Coffs Clarence Police District is in its infancy, police don’t believe a third party was involved. The crime scene will be forensically examined.
Police said a report would be prepared for the coroner and that any information should be reported to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
