An Indian national found guilty of the murder of her former lover's fiancée has had her conviction quashed and will face a retrial.
Manisha Patel was found by a jury in July 2015 to have fatally stabbed Purvi Joshi, 28, in a unit in Bestic Street, Kyeemagh, in Sydney's south, in the early hours of July 30, 2013.
She was sentenced in September 2015 to a maximum term of 24 years in jail, with a non-parole period of 18 years.
On Wednesday the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal upheld Ms Patel's appeal against the conviction and ordered a new trial.
Ms Patel appeared in court via video-link from Silverwater Women's Correctional Centre.
Ms Joshi had arrived in Australia from India shortly before she was killed. She was planning to marry Niraj Dave, a fellow Indian national who had previously been in a relationship with Ms Patel.
