Police are searching for three men who allegedly fled the scene of a fiery crash in south-west Sydney that left a man in a critical condition in hospital.
The 39-year-old was taken to St George Hospital, where he has undergone emergency surgery.
Police were called to Davies Road at Padstow after reports of a two-car crash about 10.40pm on Sunday night.
Footage shows the Audi engulfed in flames after the collision, while a Nissan was left crumpled on a median strip.
Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit Commander, Detective Inspector Jason Logan, said the white Audi involved in the crash was an unreturned hire car.
The three men at large are believed to be aged in their mid-to-late 20s.
Logan said the Audi collided with the 39-year-old’s Nissan Pulsar as it turned right.

“There’s a duty to all drivers to stop and render assistance as well as provide some details of who they are,” Logan said.
“Drivers need to be accountable for their actions. They need to slow down, they need to take the appropriate rests, and drive within the conditions.
“Driving is a privilege, not a right, so drivers should be mindful of other road users.”
CCTV released by NSW Police shows one of the men believed to be involved in the crash running down a nearby street within minutes of the collision.
Logan said the three men who allegedly fled the crash scene should attend their nearest police stations and assist authorities.
Police are seeking dashcam footage from anyone in the area or anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
