A man has plunged 20 metres to his death in front of his family after falling from a cliff in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park in Sydney’s north.
Emergency services were called to a picnic area on the Duckholes Trail at Terrey Hills about 12.30pm, responding to reports a man had fallen from a cliff into water below.
The body of the man, believed to have been aged in his 40s, has been recovered from the water, NSW Police said in a statement. The man, who is yet to be formally identified, was with family members when he fell.
Specialist rescue crews abseiled 30 metres down the cliff to recover the body of the man, who was wearing a harness at the time of the fall.
A crime scene has been established, and an investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the man’s death. Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
