Renowned for her self-effacing parodies of fashion influencers and the beauty industry, Australian comedian Celeste Barber now has her own cosmetics brand, launched mid-year in partnership with P.E Nation co-founder Claire Greaves. Twinning a no-fuss approach to beauty with plenty of Barber-style ’tude, Booie Beauty debuts with five key items: Bloody Delicious! Illuminating Moisturiser ($39), Bam! Bam! Bam! Lip, Cheek and Eye Tint ($22), You’re Welcome Mascara ($31), Bring Back the Bush Eyebrow Gel Tint ($21), and Where the Hell is My…? Lip Balm ($28). Barber’s Instagram reels give a blow-by-blow account of her fast and pragmatic beauty routine. Best of all, there’s no anti-ageing propaganda in sight.

Style For Cancer is a directory where those undergoing cancer treatment (known as “style seekers”) can book grooming appointments with the confidence that their stylist, beauty therapist or hairdresser (“style makers”) is trained and accredited to meet their specific needs – no lengthy, awkward explanations required. It’s an initiative of Look Good Feel Better, a national cancer support group helping people manage the physical and psychological impacts of treatment. Profits from the directory are channelled into confidence-building workshops which can be done in person or online, and cover everything from what cosmetics to use to coping strategies, wig advice and overall wellness tips.

Erika Geraerts, founder of Australian cosmetics brand Fluff and co-host of the Pretty Hard podcast, believes in “less but better” products, and that “it’s OK to feel more with make-up as long as you don’t feel less without it.” Founded in Melbourne in 2018, Fluff is best known for its refillable Cloud Compacts – these are available to buy only four times a year for a week at a time. Once you own one, you can log in and purchase refills at any time. The refillable colour formulations are designed as multi-use products, too: the Bronzing Powder (pictured) can be applied as a powder or contour ($83, refills $35), while the lip oil can also be used as cheek and eyeshadow colour ($53, refills $21).
