Fans left adrift as Taylor Swift ticket resale delayed for Australian tour
By Aine Ryan
Taylor Swift fans patiently counting down the days until next Monday’s Ticketek resale event may have to wait even longer to nab tickets to the highly sought-after 2024 Eras Tour.
Promoter Frontier Touring quietly updated its FAQ page this week, with news the resale would no longer take place on Monday, September 4, as previously stated.
“Please note that the commencement date for Ticketek Resale has been rescheduled with a new date to be advised,” the site now reads. “Fans will be provided ample opportunity to list tickets ahead of the tour.”
Ticketek declined to comment and no official statement has been made. Frontier Touring referred inquiries to its FAQ page, which just states the resale date has been rescheduled.
Despite two pre-sales, a general sale, and additional tour dates, thousands of fans were left heartbroken and empty-handed in June with the tour completely selling out.
The Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter broke an Australian record during the second presale, with over 4 million logging on to try and score a ticket.
Those still hoping to attend have been eagerly awaiting the resale.
Ticketek’s resale platform exists so those with extra tickets can officially resell them, in an attempt to guarantee fair pricing, legitimate tickets and secure purchase.
Anyone looking to resell outside the platform must ensure they charge no more than 10 per cent above the original price, under New South Wales and Victorian legislation.
Swift’s Australian tour kicks off next year, beginning in Melbourne on February 16, 17 and 18 and then heading to Sydney for February 23, 24, 25 and 26. The Shake It Off singer will be joined by special guest Sabrina Carpenter across all Australian dates.
