Outdoor theatre pioneer Glenn Elston receives Melbourne Award

Director Glenn Elston was named the recipient of a Melbourne Award last month in recognition of his long career presenting outdoor theatre in the city, including Shakespeare and family favourites such as The Wind in the Willows in the Royal Botanic Gardens.

In bestowing the award the City of Melbourne cited his "enormous contribution to Melbourne and Australia's artistic and community life, pioneering open-air theatre in Australia."

His 26th Shakespeare Under the Stars has just been announced, and will beAs You Like It. The production will be complemented this year by the Love Letter Labyrinth, an interactive maze.
