Okay, that's a wrap for the day people.
What happened?
- there are allegations intelligence services have been paying people smugglers for at least four years which means Labor now faces questions about its own conduct while in government;
- Opposition leader Bill Shorten said people smugglers were never paid to turn back boats but would not comment on what intelligence agencies did during Labor's time in government;
- the allegations muted the opposition's attack on the government and the government called out the opposition for hypocrisy;
- the Senate has passed a Greens motion compelling the government to produce any documents about payments;
- the opposition announced it would not support the government's changes to the pension which it announced in the budget; and
- there's still no sign of the legislation dealing with the government's proposed citizenship changes.
