Good night, thanks for joining us!
By Louise Rugendyke
Thanks for following the 2025 TV Week Logie Awards with us! It’s been a big night for Lynne McGranger, who won the Gold Logie for most popular personality on Australian television and the Silver Logie for best lead actress in a drama, and for the ABC comedy Fisk, which romped home with five awards, including best comedy and best lead actress for its creator, Kitty Flanagan.
Sam Pang, once again, nailed it as host, and it was good to see local talent taking home the big awards. Whatever you think of the Logies, they still play an important role in highlighting all the great TV this country produces.
You can read Karl Quinn’s take on the night here, and Fashion Editor Damien Woolnough’s expert view of the red carpet fashion here. Check out our fashion gallery above and please let us know in the comments what you thought of this year’s awards.
Good night!
Lynne McGranger’s big fear before her big night
By Bronte Gossling
A “blown away” Lynne McGranger has gone out with a bang, taking home both awards for which she was nominated.
Of course, one of which was the Gold Logie, and of that she joked with us backstage after accepting her award: “If I’d have known this was going to happen, I would have left years ago, love.”

McGranger’s 33-year tenure as Irene Roberts will officially come to a close later this month, and even though she was the favourite to win going into tonight, she says she still felt the pressure throughout her campaign.
“It was [intense], because my son-in-law told me when I was first announced that I was $3.50 to win, he goes, ‘That’s rubbish! You should be much shorter than that’... he had me at $100 at $3.50, so he was very happy about it,” McGranger said to peals of laughter.
“But I think, pressure-wise, I was more concerned about letting down the people who had done so much work... and just everyone who has been so wonderfully supportive, so caring and nurturing. It’s been such a ride, I can’t believe it, I still can’t believe it... It’s so remarkable and I’m so thrilled.”
She said she thinks she’ll wake up tomorrow and it will all be a dream.
And the Gold Logie goes to… Lynne McGranger!

This is the moment we’ve all been waiting (many, many, many hours) for, folks – it’s the Gold Logie! The big kahuna! The real deal!
This year, it goes to Home and Away’s Lynne McGranger, who has played the lovely Irene for a whopping 33 years – now that’s an innings!

For anyone who was hoping for some drama with a Hamish Blake win, sorry, but this time it’s for the ladies. No controversy here. Plus, McGranger literally came dressed as the Gold Logie, so you could say she had already manifested this win.
“Wear a pretty dress, they said. It’ll be fine, they said,” McGranger said as she took to the stage, looking a bit dazed.
“Thirty-three years I’ve done this amazing show and I’m thrilled and honoured … I want to acknowledge all the other nominees, all the fierce women of all ages. And I’m the oldest! If you live as long as I have, it’s fantastic. And of course, the lovely Hamish – you’re a brave man. Thank you.”

The timing of McGranger’s win couldn’t be more perfect, as she prepares to leave Home and Away after over three decades on the soap. At the age of 72, she is the longest-serving female cast member in an Australian drama series.
For those who remember last year, former Gold Logie winner Larry Emdur promised that, if he won, he would have all the initials of his fellow nominees tattooed on his bare buttocks on national television. To his credit, he followed through with it, much to the pleasure of all those viewing. McGranger, however, learned from his mistake.
“I did promise that if I won the Golf Logie, I would carry it around in my handbag for a year, which is better than bearing my white ass on morning television, Larry,” she teased.
“I also thought what I could do is, in a few years time when I die, I might chop the head off, scoop it out, put my ashes in there, screw the top back on and give it to Clancy, my beautiful daughter, who is here tonight, and she can put it on the mantle piece.” Good to know, Lynne.
McGranger then took the opportunity to thank the many people she has worked with over her three decades in the business, paying particular attention to the crew behind Home and Away, who she says work tirelessly to get the show on TV each year.
Then, of course, she turned to those who have ensured the soap opera could remain on-air for 38 years – the fans.
“To the fans, bloody hell. To all the fans who voted, thank you. For those of you out there who keep free-to-air TV alive – please keep doing what you’re doing.”
We’ll keep doing what we’re doing as long as you keep doing what you’re doing, Lynne – shining like gold.

Return to Paradise wins Best Drama
By Meg Watson
Damn, between this and Fisk, it’s a huge night for the ABC. Return to Paradise has won Best Drama, beating big Netflix titles, such as Territory and Heartbreak High, as well as Bump (Stan), The Twelve (Binge/Foxtel) and ABC stablemate The Newsreader.
The series is an Australian-based spin-off from the BBC’s hit murder mystery series Death in Paradise, and the first in the extended universe to feature a female detective.
“It’s a show about kindness and belonging and frighteningly frequent murder,” lead Anna Samson said on stage accepting the award. “So a huge thank you [to the fans].”

Apple Cider Vinegar takes home its first award of the night
By Nell Geraets
Dave Hughes is not happy. He’s not happy with Guy Montgomery, to be more specific.
Guy rocked up to his first Logies this year and won an award. Hughes has been coming to the Logies for 25 years and has zero. Sorry, Hughesy. Better luck next year?
At least they let him present an award though, which he did with great aplomb. The winner of the best miniseries or telemovie went to Apple Cider Vinegar, the mega-hit Netflix series that followed the lies of Belle Gibson, who notoriously faked a cancer diagnosis for her own gain.

Despite having been one of the most nominated shows at the Logies this year, this is the first trophy the series has won.
Accepting the award was the show’s screenwriter Samantha Strauss, who thanked all those involved in its creation before turning to a more personal note, one that caused her to tear up.
“It’s getting harder and harder to know what to trust online down our rabbit holes, and that’s really scary when it comes to our health,” she said. “My best friend has a little boy, Max, and he has cancer. She’d love to be treating him with apple cider vinegar, but she’s doing two rounds of chemotherapy instead… This [award] is for him and her.”

‘I would not have backed myself’: Lynne McGranger wins Best Actress
US actress Kaitlyn Dever may have led a hit Netflix drama in Apple Cider Vinegar and had a breakthrough year with The Last of Us, but she had nothing on Our Irene. Lynne McGranger has won Best Lead Actress in a Drama for her portrayal of Irene Roberts in Home and Away.
McGranger is leaving the series this year after 33 years in the role. As she walked to the stage, the voiceover stated this makes her “the longest-serving female actor in an Australian drama in history”, provoking a massive response from the crowd.

“This is very unexpected and I’m incredibly honoured to be amongst such unbelievable company,” McGranger said. “If I was betting woman, I would have not backed myself.”
The actress, who is also the hot tip for the Gold Logie, thanked everyone on the show, including the writers who have “given me a life to live through Irene and written the most remarkable exit story about a woman dealing with Alzheimer’s.”
McGranger also thanked her husband but noted he was not in attendance. “I asked him to come tonight and he said, ‘I’d rather swallow a hammer.’”
Girl. I know Manu is there babbling in French and annoying everyone, but it’s a good night for him to make the effort.
