Starting next year, Perth will be serviced by Boeing's newest jetliner.
Air New Zealand announced Auckland to Perth flights would be the first scheduled route the airline would operate the 787-9 Dreamliner on.
The airline's chief executive officer Christopher Luxon made the announcement in Auckland on Thursday.
Flights to Auckland will begin October next year.
The aircraft is a longer version of Boeing's 787 Dreamliner.
Air New Zealand's Dreamliner will have a business premier zone with 18 lie-flat seats in addition to a premium economy section and two economy cabins.
Mr Luxon said the other routes from Auckland would be added to the aircraft's schedule.
Western Australia's acting Tourism Minister John Day said WA already attracted a large number of visitors from New Zealand to the state.
"New Zealand is WA's second biggest international tourism market, with more than 81,000 visitors last financial year," he said.
Earlier this month Jetstar announced Australia's first Dreamliner route in Australia would be from Melbourne to Bali, with the first flight taking off on December 18.
Perth Airport chief executive Brad Geatches said he was delighted to welcome the first Dreamliner service into Perth.
"It's always exciting when a new aircraft comes to Perth, and we look forward to working with Air New Zealand to ensure the success of the service."
