Prices could be right on the money at Hawkesbury meeting

By John Schell

A close second in the Queensland Oaks for trainers Robert and Luke Price has them primed to continue a strong run at Hawkesbury on Tuesday when they saddle up a number of top chances.

The father and son combination had Our Gold Hope narrowly defeated in the Brisbane feature a couple of weeks ago, and since then the stable has gathered momentum.

A long-priced winning treble at their home track of Kembla Grange last Tuesday when Pretty Rho ($51), Island Dec ($13) and Madam Rupee ($101) scored, is set to be built upon with a number of leading chances going around on Tuesday.

They will have Glitterscript in the HRC Motel 2YO Maiden Handicap (1400m), Mega Fight in the Belle Property Hawkesbury Maiden Handicap (1500m) and Verbek in the All Aspects Roofing Benchmark 64 Handicap (1600m), all with Dylan Gibbons to ride.

The Prices will have a two-pronged attack in the Davo’s Dash Provincial Maiden Plate (1100m) with Defying (Keagan Latham) and Invade And Conquer (Tom Sherry) representing the stable.

The stable rounds out the day when Satness contests the Irresistible Pools & Spas Midway Benchmark 68 Handicap (1300m) with three-kilogram claiming apprentice Madison Waters taking the ride.

“Glitterscript is talented and is knocking on the door for a win,” said Luke Price, who gives all the runners a good chance.

“Mega Fight has had chances but looks to be in a race to suit, while Verbek had a confidence booster last time out at Wyong when winning and should race on the speed and make his own luck.”

Price said he expects Invade And Conquer to be a leading chance on the back of a close second at Hawkesbury when resuming.

“We protested against the winner that day and I should we had good grounds,” he said. “He’s run well since at Wyong and this looks a nice race for him.”

Satness is resuming and Price said he is primed to run well.

“His trial was very good and his work has been great,” he said. “It’s Madison’s first ride back from a long break having become a Mum, and he’s ready to run very well.”
