Live cricket scores: Australia vs India Second Test, Day Four from Bangalore

Latest posts

SUMMARY: India won by 75 runs

Well it was a great Test match which swung this way and that, but in the end a comprehensive win for the home side, Australia not even getting near a modest target of 188, wickets falling steadily at the top of the order then in an almighty rush at the end. In fact, 16 wickets fell for the day on a pitch that seemed to deteriorate very quickly. Australia looked set to make it 2-0 when Josh Hazlewood and Mitch Starc ripped through the India batting, Hazlewood finishing with 6/67, but in the end the 118-run partnership between Pujara and Rahane proved the difference. Australia looked comfortable with Dave Warner and Steve Smith at the crease, but first paceman Yadav and then spinner Ashwin sparked a collapse of epic proportions, the Aussies losing 6/11 from the time Mitch Marsh was out shortly before tea. With a near 100-run lead on the first innings, Australia would have been expecting a much better result than this, and any confidence India lost in Pune has been well and truly restored now. And it's set up what should be an enthralling final two Test matches, with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy still on the line. WICKET!

That's it! India win by 75 runs. Ashwin finishes with six wickets as Lyon drives one straight back to the bowler! Absolute carnage at the end there, Australia lost 6/11 after looking very well-placed in a chase for a very gettable 188.

WICKET!

Now Handscomb's gone, and with him, all hope. Loses patience and tries to hoik Ashwin down the ground. Gets a massive edge straight up in the air, and keeper Saha camps underneath it and takes the catch comfortably. Just one to go now. Australia has lost 5/9 in a pretty insipid collapse.

WICKET!

And now he gets a scalp! O'Keefe is bowled, another delivery which keeps very low and sneaks under the batsman's defences. It's 8/110, still 78 required, Nathan Lyon to the crease and India looking likely to wrap this up pretty quickly.

Surviving

The runs have dried to a trickle, but O'Keefe and Handscomb remain defiant, the target now down to 78. And a bowling change again, Jadeja to replace Yadav. Into his eighth over now, has conceded only three runs.

O'Keefe to face the music

More good bowling from Yadav, a maiden to Handscomb puts O'Keefe on strike to Ashwin. He gets a single straight away, though, and Handscomb takes another, plenty of faith in the tailender's ability.

WICKET!

Starc's gone! Bowled through the gate by Ashwin, takes off stump, and that might be Australia's hopes done and dusted right there. Just three wickets to get for India, Steve O'Keefe is the new batsman.
