Norris Nuts: Famous Youtube family turns 12m following into $40m Bondi property portfolio

By Lucy Macken

Turns out being an influencer might be a little more lucrative than first thought. Take the Norris Nuts, a family internet sensation from Newcastle who were already clearly monetising their social media accounts when they purchased a house in North Bondi last year for $15.2 million.

But former Olympic swimmer and bronze medallist Justin Norris, his wife Brooke and their brood of six kids Sabre, Sockie, Biggy, Naz, Disco and Charm haven’t stopped there, parlaying their almost 12 million followers and subscribers on YouTube, Tiktok and Instagram into what now totals more than $40 million worth of real estate on the one street.

Records show in July the couple’s corporate interests purchased a block of six apartments up the road from their North Bondi home for $10.5 million amid talk they were planning to convert the lot into one large house for their kids.

Then, as their almost 7 million YouTube subscribers found out a week ago, the family were again on the house hunting trail, going to Mosman to look at a $14 million house before they returned to Bondi to look at the house next door being sold by Raine & Horne’s Ric Serrao and Mark Yeats for $14.2 million.

Clearly the kids’ preference to remain living near their beloved Bondi Beach won out judging by the sold sticker that went up on next door for which a well-placed source said the Norrises paid above the guide.

The newly purchased house is expected to be a home to the eldest of the six Norris kids, Sabre, now 18, with the potential to one day knock down both houses to create a single residence across the $30 million site.

All of which is a good step up the property ladder from their former home in Newcastle’s up-market suburb The Junction, purchased in 2015 for $1.05 million.

The family’s latest buy comes less than a year after they sold a block of land in Queensland’s Broadbeach Waters for $6.42 million, a loss on their $6.5 million purchase price of 18 months earlier.

Miskin’s move

Still with Bondi’s cashed-up fans, former magazine publisher and property investor Deke Miskin is the hot tip to have purchased a Bondi Beach house shortly after it was passed in on a vendor bid of $7.5 million.

The Byron Bay-based Miskin had attended the auction by The Agency’s Steven Chen and Edward Reid with celebrity accountant Anthony Bell, and when a sold sticker went up hours later it prompted speculation by a mole at the auction that one or the other of the Title Deeds regulars were the buyer.

Turns out Miskin, the former owner of the Point Piper trophy home Altona, was behind the $7.7 million purchase from Jenny Miles and Duncan Wilmer, head of real estate at Rothschild.

Andrea Roberts, the wife of rich lister and Multiplex heir Andrew Roberts, has emerged as the $11 million buyer of the Point Piper apartment of venture capitalist Daniel Darling.

The art deco pad, which sits atop a block of four, was a pre-auction sale by The Agency’s Ben Collier on behalf of Darling, son of Caledonia Private chairman Michael Darling, and comes after it was listed for $10 million early this year with another agent.

The Roberts family are based at Bondi Beach, where they purchased a $24 million apartment last year from former hedge-fund operative Spencer Young.

Point Piper’s other high-end trader this week is former Liberal premier Nick Greiner and his partner Carolyn Fletcher, who returned to Sydney for a visit from the US just long enough to sell their pad for $14.5 million.

The whole-floor pad in Pacific Point last traded nine years ago for $5.5 million.

For those with a dramatically smaller budget, Point Piper doesn’t get cheaper than this: a 30-square-mere studio for $460,000 to $500,000. And on the waterfront, no less.

And to think the 1941-built building with harbourside pool and private jetty is a few doors from the $95 million mansion Edgewater that gold mining business John Changjin Li has half-bought with a little help from his former wife Athena Changren Cheng.

Raine & Horne Double Bay’s Wayne Ihaka has set a November 30 auction for the deceased estate of “concert officer” Patricia Fletcher, who owned it from 1982 until she died in 2019.

McGrath’s Tracey Dixon declined to reveal the exact result, saying only that it sold within the guide.

The former boss of Google Australia has owned the 1896-built residence for a quarter of a century, having purchased it for $1.65 million. It was listed due to the Carnegies’ plan to spend more time at their recently redesigned Whale Beach weekender, as well as their purchase of a Potts Point terrace earlier this year for $6 million.
