NSW Greens MPs Cate Faehrmann and Justin Field have threatened to quit the party in a scathing open letter to members as the troubled party's civil war worsens.
Ms Faehrmann and Mr Field warn that the party is facing an "irrevocable split" after recent events, which included fellow MP Jenny Leong using parliamentary privilege to call on Jeremy Buckingham to quit Parliament.
They said Ms Leong's allegations made in Parliament last month were "distressing to many" as was the "profoundly anti-democratic behaviour at last weekend's state delegates council".
The NSW Greens voted on Saturday to kick Mr Buckingham off the party's 2019 election ticket, amid accusations made that he had committed an act of "sexual violence" against a former Greens employee.
"As a result, as Greens MPs who have dedicated decades to supporting, building and representing this party, we are giving serious consideration as to whether we can continue as members of the Greens," Ms Faehrmann and Mr Field wrote.
They said they had been "inundated by members and supporters" who have similar sentiments.
"The animosity, lack of trust and bad faith pursued by these wrecking forces within the party has reached a point where immediate actions are required to demonstrate a genuine commitment to improve democracy and accountability in the party and to remove destructive forces," the MPs wrote.
They called for a "democratic recount" of the recent preselection for the NSW upper house Greens ticket for 2019 if Mr Buckingham withdraws from the race.
Mr Buckingham won third spot on the ticket, but is almost certain to not be re-elected.
"This is the only way to ensure the democratic intention of the membership is reflected at the state election in March," their letter said.
But several Greens sources said Ms Faehrmann and Mr Field were ignoring the wishes of the "vast majority of the membership base" who want Mr Buckingham to be kicked out of Parliament.
Their threats to quit the party showed they were being "petty children", one source said.
The open letter followed a blistering attack from Ms Faehrmann on her party, saying she is "beyond appalled" with many members and fears the Greens have been "infiltrated by extreme left forces".
"I am beyond appalled that the party I have been a part of for almost two decades and have poured my heart and soul into has voted to attempt to force a popular and hugely effective MP to resign," Ms Faehrmann said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
