Two women have died in separate crashes on West Australian roads, while a Beckenham man has been charged following a dramatic police chase after being found with stolen numberplates.

WA Police’s Major Crash Investigation Section is investigating a fatal crash in Perth’s east on Saturday, where a silver Hyundai i30 and a white Mitsubishi Challenger collided at the intersection of Harris Road and Oats Street in Carlisle about 11.25am.

“The 77-year-old female driver of the Hyundai sustained critical injuries and was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital where she later died,” police said in a statement.

“The 26-year-old male driver of the Mitsubishi was not injured.”

In another incident in Norseman, 724 kilometres east of Perth, a road train carrying three trailers and a pedestrian were involved in a fatal collision on Prinsep Street about 11:15am on Saturday.
