A 13-year-old boy who was robbed at knifepoint by a group of at least 11 people at a toilet block near a beach in Perth’s north has been left shaken, but with minor injuries.
About 8pm on Wednesday night, the boy was leaving the toilet block at The Esplanade carpark in Scarborough, when he was approached by a large group who pushed him back inside.
Nine News Perth reporter Emma Griffiths said they then assaulted him.
“They’ve stolen some of his clothing with his shoes and some personal items,” she told Radio 6PR.
“Then as he was exiting again, police say another offender then held a knife to his throat before they ran from the area.
“The victim was treated here at the scene by paramedics and thankfully only received some minor injuries, but no doubt he’s still shaken less than 12 hours on now from the ordeal.”
After a co-ordinated search of the area, police took 11 people into custody who were allegedly involved in the attack.
“They actually had to call in their police truck just to be able to take them all to the watch house, there was that many of them,” Griffiths said.
Inquiries are ongoing and no charges have yet been laid. Police are calling for any witnesses or anyone with CCTV footage to come forward.
