An egg-ceptionally improbable run of odds at a Perth backyard barbecue breakfast left an Esperance women shell shocked when her carton of eggs produced 10 double yolks.
Sheridan Anderson was visiting friends in Mount Hawthorn when she decided a Sunday morning fried breakfast was just the ticket to overcome the weekend winter blues.
After shelling out for a 10-egg carton from Glendalough Village IGA, Ms Anderson headed back to her friend's place for the fry-up.
On average just one in a thousand eggs has a double yolk and so Ms Anderson said there was a little bit of excitement when the first cracked open.
"Then they just kept coming. By then, everyone was crowded around the barbecue," she said.
"There was a round of applause when the last one hit the barbecue plate."
The odds of a run of six double yolk eggs increases to one in 729 million and WAtoday is seeking a calculation on the odds of 10 in a row.
"It was amazing - essentially I got 20 eggs for the price of 10," Ms Anderson said.
"I'm definitely going to buy a lotto ticket for Tuesday's draw."
Her partner, Reid, was altogether more concerned about his breakfast.
"I was just keeping an eye on the chef, making sure all those yolks were still runny," he said.
But however improbable, Ms Anderson's eggs-traordinary run of double yolks doesn't appear to be a record.
Back in 2012, a Scottish chef, Ross Cruickshanks, cracked open 19 consecutive double yolks while cooking breakfast in a North Ayrshire cafe - a feat the cafe claimed was a trillion to one.
