A 45-year-old man at the centre of a homicide investigation in Perth’s north-east has been revealed as a sports massage therapist who used to work for the West Coast Eagles.
Homicide detectives are investigating after Patrik Weiss was discovered dead inside his Lockridge home on Monday afternoon.
A worried loved one attended the father-of-two’s Diana Crescent address around 3.45pm and contacted police after making the grim discovery.
WA Police Inspector Geoff DeSanges said police were treating the death as suspicious, but ruled out Weiss had been shot.
“There are circumstances that are evident at the crime scene that give us rise to suspect there was third-party involvement,” he said.
“This does not appear to be a random incident, so we don’t believe there’s any ongoing risk to the community, however we’re asking anyone to come forward who may know something about it.
“Police believe the male was last heard from at about 8.40am on Sunday, 11 June, so anyone who may have dashcam or CCTV in the vicinity of Diana Crescent in Lockridge and the surrounding area between 8.40am Sunday and 3.40pm Monday, please contact Crime Stoppers.”
Nine News Perth reported Weiss was found with suffered significant head injuries and had his hands bound and a mask covering his face.
No one is in custody in relation to the crime.
Weiss’ LinkedIn profile showed he owned his own remedial therapy business, and coached the Australian men’s beach handball team, where he was also previously an assistant manager and physiotherapist.
He had also worked as a soft tissue therapist at the West Coast Eagles since March 2012.
He was previously not known to police.
