By Lachlan Abbott

A missing 11-year-old boy at the centre of a search in bushland around Anglesea has been found safe and well.

Victoria Police said Mount Duneed boy Toby went was last seen around 2.30pm on Monday when he ran from a vehicle opposite a service station on the Great Ocean Road.

“Toby has autism and is described as having blond shoulder-length hair,” police said, releasing an image on Monday evening to help find the child.

“He was wearing a light blue jacket with a hood with white polar fleece inside and black shorts as seen in the image provided.”

A police helicopter hovered over Anglesea as the State Emergency Service joined the search as dusk fell.

The search was called off just before 11.30pm when the little boy was found, safe and well near Fairhaven on the Surf Coast.

A police spokesperson said Toby would be assessed by paramedics late Monday evening, but he appeared to be in good health.

Earlier, locals and school holidaymakers alike were told to check their properties as emergency services scoured near the mouth of the Anglesea River and town foreshore.
