Two people have been arrested following a hit and run in Malmsbury, in central Victoria, on Sunday morning.
Police say a man and a woman fled on foot after crashing their car into a black Ford on the Calder Freeway near the East Malmsbury on-ramp about 6am.
Nine News reports that the pair's car was fitted with stolen plates.
The driver of the Ford, reported to be a 57-year-old man, was taken to hospital with a back injury and later released. His teenage son was assisted at the scene.
Police located the man and the woman about 30 minutes later in Mollison Street, Malmsbury.
A 33-year-old woman from Bendigo was released pending further enquiries.
A 29-year-old man from Corio is expected to be interviewed in relation to various offences including conduct endangering life and a number of traffic, firearms and ammunition offences.
Nine News is reporting the pair dumped a sawn-off shotgun in a backpack around Racecourse Road, which the woman later helped police locate.
SES workers and police located a number of items at the scene which were taken into evidence.
