Pete Evans' paleo book for babies dumped

Updated

Pete Evans' controversial paleo diet book for babies has been dumped by its Australian publisher.

Bubba Yum Yum: The Paleo Way, which is co-authored by My Kitchen Rules judge Evans, nutritionist Helen Padarin and blogger Charlotte Carr, was howled down by dietitians and doctors last week.

The cookbook, which recommends feeding infants a DIY baby formula made from bone broth, was supposed to be on book shelves last week but was pulled.

Publisher Pan Macmillan Australia released a statement on Monday saying it would no longer be publishing the book.

"The authors of Bubba Yum Yum: The Paleo Way - for new mums, babies and toddlers have decided to release a digital version of the book very shortly, and will, therefore, no longer publish the book, in any format, with Pan Macmillan Australia," the statement read.

Leading health groups say some of the book's recipes are potentially risky for babies and the Federal Health Department had stepped in to investigate the claims.
