Police allege Hossain went to Uddin’s home in Wiley Park in Sydney’s south-west about 10:30pm on Sunday night to return a bicycle he had used for work.

The police facts allege Hossain greeted the group of friends who live at the house on Cornelia Street.

At about 12:15am, Hossain was outside the same house and allegedly exited his red Toyoya Camry which was parked in the front yard. As Hossain was walking back into the house, Uddin attempted to park his Toyota Corolla in the same driveway.

During the manoeuvre, Uddin allegedly drove his car into Hossain.

“The momentum pushed the deceased into the corner wall of the residence, pinning him, causing major head injury,” the fact sheet alleges.

“Police believe the accused accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake.“

After the crash, police allege Uddin reversed his car a couple of metres.

Several people who live in the house, all friends with both Uddin and Hossain, heard a loud crash and went outside, where they saw Hossain on the ground and Uddin in the front yard.

Emergency services rushed to help, but they could not revive Hossain and he died at the scene.

Hossain was an international student from Bangledesh, as is Uddin, who works at a restaurant part-time. They were longtime friends.

A crime scene was established and will be examined by specialist police.

Uddin was arrested at the scene and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

He was later taken to Campsie police station where he was charged with negligent driving occasioning death.

He was granted bail at Parramatta court on Monday afternoon on a $2000 surety and on the condition he reports to police daily.

He will next face Bankstown Local Court on October 15.
