A third man has been charged over the death of former Lone Wolf bikie Yusuf Nazlioglu, who once said he believed someone would “knock” him one day by sneaking up and putting a bullet in his head.
Nazlioglu was ambushed at a car park in Sydney’s inner west on June 27, 2022. He was shot multiple times in the head and torso.
Nazlioglu had just arrived home and was parking his car when he was approached by an unknown man. The shooter allegedly fled in a small silver hatchback that was later found on fire in a nearby car park.
Police and emergency services were called to Walker Street in Rhodes about 6.30pm, taking the 40-year-old to hospital where he died a short time later.
Two men, aged 25 and 33, have already been charged over their alleged roles in the murder and remain before the courts.
About 5.30am on Wednesday, police executed a search warrant in Hinchinbrook, in Sydney’s south-west, where they arrested 24-year-old Mohammed Baltagi.
He was taken to Liverpool police station and charged with murder and failing to comply with a digital evidence access order direction.
He appeared before Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday and was refused bail.
Nazlioglu previously made headlines when he was charged with, and later acquitted of, the 2018 murder of Comanchero boss Mick Hawi. He did a stint in jail on firearms charges after his acquittal.
The notorious ex-Lone Wolf bikie was recorded in custody in 2019 speaking about his belief that people in the outside world were going to “knock” him.
