Teenage boys target five brothels in one night during robbing spree, police allege

Three teenage boys have been arrested after an alleged robbery spree of brothels, in which police say they targeted up to five in one night.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad investigated four armed robberies and two attempted armed robberies at brothels in Wollongong and Sydney’s west that occurred in one week.

On February 8 shortly before 2am, two of the boys attended a business on West Street in Wollongong before allegedly threatening a 54-year-old man employed at a brothel with knives and demanding cash.

The man was allegedly stabbed in the leg before the pair fled.

A week later on February 15 about 1.30am, two of the boys attended another brothel on Ballandella Road in Pendle Hill when one threatened an employee with a knife and axe and the other boy threatened a second employee with a knife, police allege.

The trio then allegedly fled in a white ute before arriving at a different brothel on Alan Street in Fairfield about 45 minutes later.

Two of the boys allegedly threatened a 61-year-old male employee and demanded cash with an axe and knife where they allegedly stole cash and a mobile phone before fleeing again in the ute.

About 15 minutes later, two of the boys attended a brothel at Christina Road in Villawood and allegedly threatened a 34-year-old male employee with a knife and axe.

The man was allegedly struck in the head a number of times before the pair stole cash and an electronic tablet.

After fleeing, police allege the trio targeted another two brothels in Clyde and Rydalmere where they attempted to rob the businesses.

On Thursday, police executed a search warrant at a home in Marayong about 8am where two teenage boys aged 16 and 17 were arrested and taken to Riverstone Police Station.

The older boy was charged with eight offences including aggravated robbery with wounding/grievous bodily harm, robbery and attempted robbery armed with offensive weapon, larceny, and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

The younger boy was charged with nine offences including robbery, and attempted robbery armed with offensive weapon, larceny, drive and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner. and dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.

The third boy, aged 16, was arrested at a home in Kyeemagh later in the day and taken to Kogarah Police Station.

He was charged with seven offences including aggravated robbery with wounding/grievous bodily harm, robbery and attempted robbery armed with offensive weapon, and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

All three teenagers were refused bail to appear at the children’s court later on Friday.
