Police were forced to use road spikes to stop a man who had fled the scene in a ute after an alleged stabbing in northern NSW on Saturday afternoon.
A 58-year-old man was in police custody after the alleged attack in Iluka and a subsequent pursuit across the Northern Rivers region.
Police were responding to reports that the man had forced his way into a home and stabbed a resident to death.
Emergency services were called to Ballanda Crescent, Iluka, about 4.30pm on Saturday after reports that a resident had been attacked. Paramedics tried to revive the man, but he died at the scene.
A short time later, police tried to stop a man driving a 4WD ute north along the Pacific Highway, but he allegedly ignored police directions.
Police pursued the ute as it continued north from Iluka to Woodburn, where road spikes were used by officers attached to Coffs Traffic and Highway Patrol Command.
The ute was eventually stopped in Uralba Street, Woodburn, where a 58-year-old man was arrested and later taken to Lismore Police Station.
