By Megan Gorrey

Police are investigating the death of a seven-week-old baby boy at a home in Sydney’s western suburbs.

A crime scene has been set up at the home on Stanley Street in St Marys, near Penrith, after emergency services responded to a report the baby was unresponsive about 4.15am on Saturday.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the infant before transporting him to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. He could not be revived.

Police from the homicide squad are examining the circumstances of his death.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
