Garbage truck driver allegedly stabbed with pen in road rage incident

A garbage truck driver has allegedly been stabbed with a pen in what police say was a road rage incident in Sydney’s south that closed two southbound lanes on Southern Cross Drive.

Police said they received reports that a 49-year-old man had been stabbed in the arm by the driver of a silver Kia Carnivale wagon.

Officers are searching for the Kia driver and have commenced an investigation.

The alleged incident occurred between General Holmes Drive and Botany Road, on the border of Botany and Mascot, about 3.25pm on Monday.

The victim was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital.

Two of three southland lanes were closed, but have since reopened.

Drivers have been advised to allow extra time and exercise caution.
