“Whilst doing a primary search in that premises, firefighters did remove one patient from that structure with some burns and commenced CPR prior to ambulance arrival,” Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Grant Rice said.

“After some combined efforts from police, ambulance and Fire and Rescue with CPR on that gentleman, unfortunately he’s been declared deceased on scene.”

NSW Police said the man had yet to be identified.

Police and Fire and Rescue investigators are working to establish the cause of the blaze, which was attended by more than 30 firefighters and contained to the one house.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
