That’s stumps for today. Thanks for reading. Here’s a recap of the day’s adventures:
- NSW has recorded 112 new cases of COVID-19 in the community. Premier Gladys Berejiklian says at least 34 of the new cases were in the community while infectious. Meanwhile, there are 68 people with coronavirus in NSW hospitals. Of those, 18 are in intensive care, four of whom are ventilated.
- Victoria is on high alert after a removalist from Greater Sydney visited Victoria and South Australia while infectious. Separately, two members of a NSW who had a permit to travel to Victoria tested positive, but they were in isolation so are not considered high risk.
- A South Australian woman died from the rare blood clotting condition a few weeks after having an AstraZeneca vaccination.
- British billionaire Richard Branson succeeded in his attempt to complete the world’s first fully crewed private space flight.
- Australia has finally withdrawn all troops from Afghanistan, 20 years after the war started.
- And Italy defeated England to win their first European Championship since 1968. In Melbourne, Italian soccer fans went nuts celebrating the triumph.
We’ll be back again first thing tomorrow. Arrivederci!
