Kim Kardashian has allowed her pouting small-waisted, big-bootied likeness to be used for the new game, called , which has taken the world by storm.

You create your own "kustomised" avatar. Kim is your mentor guiding you on the path to celebrity, which is mostly achieved by doing photo shoots, going shopping and dating rich guys.

Kim Kardashian is set to earn millions from her app, which encourages users to spend up to $99 to buy the star's currency "K Coins."

Tracie Egan Morrissey wrote on the Jezebel website that she had spent nearly $500 on the addictive app.

"What a lame, embarrassing addiction to have. What would I even say if I tried to get help for this at AA or something?

"Neither talent nor intelligence are needed to succeed in Kim's app universe," she writes. "You mindlessly tap on the screen to earn and spend money.

"It took me two and half hours and $40 USD to become a D-list celebrity."

Praised for its sharp cartoon graphics, the objective is simple: climb the Hollywood celebrity ladder from the E list to the A list.

The way to get there is through booking jobs, making friends and going on dates and to parties.

Kardashian will help you on your way, but only if you scratch her back, too, by taking her calls, helping her get an outfit for a party she's going to, and other extremely important tasks.

Goods, money and other people are there purely as a means to your own efforts to gain a career, wealth and fans.

Slowly, you earn "K stars". With which you can buy haircuts or luxury cars.

Morrissey said she typically earned one K star for each hour played. The haircut she wanted cost 100 K stars.

Users can also purchase K stars with real money.

The app's developer, Glu Mobile, reported the game had generated $US1.6 million in its first five days after its release on June 27.

The company's revenue for the quarter also shot up by 50 per cent to $US35 million ($A37.87 million).

The game is now the fifth highest-grossing game on Apple's app store, and is reportedly on track to earn $US200 million ($216.39 million).

Shares in Glu Mobile, which is also responsible for the game Deer Hunter, have also shot up nearly 40 per cent in the past month.

And as her minions all over the world download the app to meet and greet her cartoon alter-ego, Kardashian is kapitalising with a capital "K".

Glu Mobile has declined to disclose details about the royalties deal with Kardashian, but the 33-year-old is reportedly set to receive a 45 per cent cut.
