A 14-year-old Wynnum boy has died after being hit by a car near a notoriously low bridge on Wednesday morning.
Police and emergency services were called to Berrima Street about 8.20am after reports that a Mitsubishi Pajero had hit a pedestrian.
The boy died at the scene.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene but the pedestrian passed away.
A police map shows the crash occurred next to the Wynnum Rail Bridge, commonly known as “Duck Bridge”.
With a clearance of just 1.9 metres – the same height as a new Pajero – it is the lowest bridge in Brisbane.
The child was reported to be a student at nearby Wynnum State High School.
The driver, a 17-year-old boy, and two passengers, a 41-year-old woman and 16-year-old boy, were not hurt.
The forensic crash unit was investigating.
Any witnesses or people with dashcam or CCTV footage from the area have been urged to contact police.
