In a statement to Seven News, Ambulance Victoria said paramedics responded to reports of an incident in Geelong around 2am on Sunday morning. It said one man was transported to hospital in a serious condition.

Ambulance Victoria declined to comment on Monday night.

The Geelong Football Cub on Monday night confirmed a “health incident” involving Stengle on the weekend. However, it said the player had since attended the club on Monday.

“The club acknowledges a health incident involving Tyson Stengle over the weekend,” the club said in a statement.

“Most importantly Tyson is OK and attended the club on Monday. The club’s priority is Tyson’s mental health and wellbeing.”

The news comes just weeks after the 25-year-old, a 2022 premiership player, signed a new five-year deal with the Cats - that would keep him at the club until the end of 2029. He would also be in consideration for All-Australian team selection.

Stengle has turned his life and career around since being picked up by the Cats, missing only four games since joining the club in 2022 after being delisted by the Adelaide Crows in late 2020.

The 25-year-old had a troubled past after being cut by Adelaide, his second club, following three alleged off-field incidents in eight months.

Stengle started his AFL career with Richmond - drafted to the club in the AFL 2017 rookie draft - however he played only two senior games with the club.
