Monday might have been the biggest day of the trade period so far, but Tuesday was a very close second.
After six players found new homes on Monday, another five did so on Tuesday, bringing the grand total to 25 with one day of the trade period still remaining.
Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy was the biggest domino to fall as he finally made his way to Melbourne, but the Brisbane Lions would’ve been rapt also to get their hands on triple-premiership Hawthorn forward Jack Gunston.
Gun GWS midfielder Jacob Hopper followed Tim Taranto to Richmond, Geelong completed the infamous Jack Bowes “salary dump” deal, which also netted them pick No.7, and Adelaide’s Billy Frampton headed to Collingwood.
The Magpies got pick 27 for Grundy, the Hawks received pick 48 and a future fourth-round pick for Gunston, and the Giants acquired pick 31 and a 2023 first-rounder for Hopper, pick 54 and 63.
The Suns collected a future third-round pick from the Cats for Bowes and pick No.7, while the Crows obtained a 2023 third-rounder for Frampton.
And with the likes of Rory Lobb, Josh Dunkley, Tom Mitchell, Jaeger O’Meara, Esava Ratugolea, Oliver Henry, Sam Weideman, Aaron Francis and Lloyd Meek still yet to find new homes, the final day promises to be another blockbuster.
