Residents of Balaclava and Ripponlea now have the perfect spot for a classy drink in a neighbourhood that's reputation for its food scene is growing. A wine shop where you can enjoy a glass or a bottle in-house, Garage is the right mix of cool and comfortable. It's wide and open, with exposed brick walls, timber tables and a signature pink neon wine bottle light. When it comes to bottle selection, owner Adam Powell says he's aimed to highlight lesser-known vineyards "that might get lost in the mix at Dan Murphy's or Liquorland". Wines by the glass are generally $10 or below, and if you can't finish a whole bottle in one sitting, take it home.
