Toyota has been in the battery game for a while now. In fact, they revolutionised the electrified car space with the iconic hybrid Prius back in the 1990s. Fast forward 25 years or so, and over 20 million batteries have rolled off Toyota’s production line.

So, it’s no surprise that the batteries powering Toyota’s first fully electric vehicle (BEV), the bZ4X, are revved up and ready for whatever adventure you have planned.

Hi-tech features

A mid-sized SUV (about the same size as a RAV4), the bZ4X rolled into Australia this year. It’s available in two grades: a 150kW/266Nm single-motor front-wheel drive (FWD) and a 160kW/337Nm dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD).

Both come equipped with a 71.4kWh lithium-ion battery, which can be charged up to 11kW on an AC charger, and up to 150kW on a DC fast charger¹. That means you can charge from 10-80 per cent in about 45 minutes ¹, so you’ve got just enough time for a coffee and a scroll through your phone.

Rest assured, fast charging won’t compromise the safety of your battery. Plus, with a new BEV-specific platform that integrates the battery and motor generator into the vehicle’s structure, the bZ4X is designed to handle the day-to-day and the weekend away.

Trusted name

Curious about how much juice you’ve got left? The battery level is displayed in the instrument cluster of the bZ4X. And with the myToyota Connect² smartphone app, you can monitor your vehicle’s battery status in real time, no matter where you are. That means less guesswork and more control — perfect for keeping your range anxiety at bay.

So, feel free to grab a bite while your bZ4X gets juiced up at the public fast charger. You can even set remote climate schedule which will allow you to set the cabin temperature from the app. (Toyota Connected Services are complimentary for the first year, after that some services require a subscription).

For anyone still deciding whether to leave petrol behind and embrace a BEV, the Toyota name provides a whole lot of reassurance. Toyota fans swear by the carmaker’s commitment to quality, and the bZ4X is no exception.

It’s all about making every drive a great one. With the bZ4X’s striking design, spacious interior, and seamless electric performance, this is a vehicle built for both comfort and innovation. And with Toyota’s decades of expertise leading the charge, you know you’re in good hands.
