A furious neighbour has marred the opening of night of Mercedes-Benz fashion week by storming the catwalk as renowned Australian designer Kym Ellery was closing her show.
As the fashion week veteran wrapped up her 20-minute show inside the industrial hangars of Eveleigh's Carriageworks, the disgruntled local made his way through the VIP section, passed the media pit and onto the catwalk to confront the designer.
The techno acoustics had proved too much for the neighbour who had arrived in the middle of one of Australia's most prestigious catwalk shows to make a very public noise complaint.
He was overheard screaming at security: "You have no respect for the local community, the noise is way too loud, this is a disgrace."
It was 7.45pm.
Ellery spotted the man at the end of the glitter-filled runway and moved swiftly to avoid making contact.
A security guard later said the man was very upset.
"We have tried to calm him down. We don't think he will be any more trouble".
Ellery's show was one of the most anticipated runway events of this year's fashion week - Australian model Gemma Ward made her return to the catwalk after a 10-year hiatus following the death of good friend, Heath Ledger.
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has been contacted for comment.
