Brisbane band to support Oasis on UK legends’ Australian tour

By Alex Condon

Brisbane’s Ball Park Music have scored the coveted support act slot for the Australian leg of Oasis’ reunion tour.

The Britpop legends, who reformed last year after breaking up in 2009 amid a feud between core members Liam and Noel Gallagher, will kick off their Oasis Live ’25 tour in Wales in July before heading to Sydney and Melbourne in October and November.

Brisbane quintet Ball Park Music will support Oasis later this year.

“It’s true, we’ll be supporting the Mancunian legends, the one and only, Oasis on their historic reunion tour when they visit Australia this year,” Ball Park Music wrote on Instagram.

“To say we’re pumped is a massive f---ing understatement. We. Can. Not. Wait. Let’s f---ing get it!”

They will open for the Manchester rockers in Melbourne for three concerts on Friday, October 31, Saturday, November 1, and Tuesday, November 4 before two shows in Sydney on Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8. All shows are sold out apart from November 4 in Melbourne, with only limited tickets remaining.

Like some recent big acts, such as Taylor Swift’s 2024 Eras tour, Brisbane has sadly again missed out on a major overseas artist. However, the River City’s current premier act Ball Park Music – whose latest album Live Love debuted at No.1 on the ARIA chart and was also triple j’s feature release last week – have scored a huge honour with the support gig.

Last year saw a united push in the Australian music industry to lobby for major touring artists from overseas to book a local support act, as the sector has been hit with financial pressure leading to venues closing and festivals being cancelled.

While several recent big-name tours brought overseas supports with them, Canberra’s Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers supported Pearl Jam on their 2024 Australian tour with the Pixies and have even been invited to support the Seattle veterans in the US this year.

Formed in 2008 while students at Queensland University of Technology, Ball Park Music have amassed eight studio albums and more than a dozen Triple J Hottest 100 placements.
