Roxy Jacenko’s burning desire to enter major retail

By Lucy Manly

Things are looking up for Roxy Jacenko whose candle collection, XRJCelebrations, is set to land in Myer department stores across the country and is on the move to new premises.

The partnership with the retail giant comes following the online sales success of the business launched by Jacenko and her former best friend Jessica Ingham. However, Jacenko and Ingham have long gone their separate ways. In January last year, Ingham confirmed to Emerald City’s sister column Private Sydney that the former besties were no longer in business together. Their longtime friendship has all but disappeared from their respective Instagram pages.

XRJCelebrations joining Myer’s roster of celebrity brands comes as AFL WAG Rebecca Judd, behind activewear label Jagged, has cut ties with Myer and has shifted its entire business model online.

Meanwhile, Jacenko has been spied with estate agents at her Blainey North-designed headquarters in Paddington, which has been featured in Vogue, and is home to her PR and talent agency Sweaty Betty and Ministry Of Talent teams.

Emerald City hears the group are set to move out of their $2.6 million Elizabeth Street offices and head to Alexandria and the $18 million commercial premises newly acquired by Jacenko’s mother, Doreen Davis. The Alexandria digs already house Roxy’s daughter’s online toy business Pixie’s Pix. If the property was to sell, insiders tip a $10 mill price point if the $9.3 million Justin Hemmes buy just this month is anything to go by.

Hermione set to say ‘I do’

As Roxy Jacenko and Oliver Curtis marked a jam-packed 10 years of marriage last week, Curtis’ former fiancee and high school sweetheart Hermione Underwood had some nuptial news of her own. Eleven years after Curtis and Underwood parted ways, Underwood has gotten engaged.

Prior to meeting PR powerhouse Jacenko, investment banker Curtis was engaged to Underwood (best known as the former BFF of Lara Worthington (nee Bingle) for five years.

Underwood was relatively unknown to those outside the Eastern suburbs set until she made a name for herself in 2012 by starring in the reality TV show Being Lara Bingle.

Underwood made her mark for her fling with Lara’s brother Josh – much to her model bestie’s dismay. There was a rumoured falling out between the two, and Underwood left Sydney altogether for London in 2014. She rebranded herself as a fashion and travel blogger and later worked on handbag and jewellery brands, before taking the reins last year as UK CEO of vitamin brand JSHealth.

Prior to meeting her latest prince charming, Hermione had a brief dalliance with British singer Seal before he moved on with Erica Packer in 2015. Hermione is the cousin of fellow girl about town Lou Haye, who is due to tie the knot to Jake O’Neil (coincidentally Roxy once dated Jake’s older brother Ned O’Neil) in the coming months.

Now it seems Underwood will finally get her happily ever after. The lucky groom-to-be known as Anthony got on bended knee in nothing but a sarong and hat during a holiday to The Maldives. He popped the question with a square-shaped diamond with the bride-to-be announcing their engagement on Instagram last week.

Aussies conquering international fashion weeks

You can hardly swing a cat in Europe without hitting a globetrotting Aussie and the international fashion festivals are no exception.

Last week, Paris Fashion Week wrapped their Fall 2022 season with designer Louis Vuitton hosting a throng of international celebrities including Brisbane’s very own Jacob Elordi who has fast become a Hollywood heartthrob for starring in HBO series-of-the-moment Euphoria alongside Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney.

Meanwhile, Sydney fashion influencers Violet Atkinson and partner Charles Alexander went from Milan to Paris where they are entrenched on the fashion circuit. Emerald City understands the pair have sat at major shows including Sandro, Mui Mui, and Prada, and by the looks of their Instagram feeds their matching mullets have gotten the fashion crowd’s tick of approval.

The event marked the second time Barrett, a Byron Bay local, walked for the Australian fashion designer since his debut show in 2017 where he was rumoured to be paid a whopping $100,000 for a 60-second runway walk.

Back in Sydney, Australian fashion designer Kym Ellery jetted back to town after three years living in the city of love and fashion – Paris, has launched a new collaboration between her label Ellery and Witchery.
