Welcome to the UFO capital of Australia

Words:  name hereProducer: name here

Four hours north of Alice Springs and 12 hours south of Darwin, Wycliffe Well is considered the best location in Australia if you fancy seeing an unidentified flying object.

The area has been associated with the phenomenon for decades, with many visitors and locals turning their eyes skywards at night in the hopes of sighting something unearthly.

Wycliffe Well’s history can be traced back to the 1860s when it became a watering point for the stock route on the Overland Telegraph Line.

In World War II it became a market garden centre to service troops in Alice Springs. These servicemen would regularly see strange lights in the sky in the area, which established its UFO reputation.

Today, the town has few permanent residents and is dominated by the UFO-themed roadhouse and holiday park.

The site was developed by Lew Farkas, who arrived in Wycliffe Well in 1985. After finding out the area's history of UFO sightings, he embraced everything extra terrestrial.

In a 2017 interview with US-Canadian publication VICE, Farkas said many tourists who stopped at the location were firm believers.

We used to get a lot of people who'd had personal UFO experiences that they had never told to anybody. When they came in, they had this urge to release their burdens.

There are many theories why Wycliffe Well is a UFO hotspot. Some believe it is tied to the nearby Pine Gap intelligence base, while others point to more natural explanations.

What is clear is that Wycliffe Well’s reputation for UFO sightings has remained undiminished for decades and shows no signs of slowing down.
