World leading medical school in  Darwin 

A new medical school in the Top End could become a world leader in remote educationand training, while bringing social and economic benefits to the Northern Territory.

The Charles Darwin University (CDU) medical school will focus on training and graduating people from remote communities as doctors.

The school's program will work with traditional owners to deliver tailored medical care and increase the number of Indigenous doctors in Australia.

CDU Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Ian Wronski has been tasked with helping to bring the medical school to life.

He said increasing local medical expertise was vital to ensure people had real access to services.

The Territory has faced continual challenges retaining a steady workforce to maintain and grow its health system.
