Flu jab plea as case numbers soar in NT

Territorians have been urged to get the flu jab following a surge in cases across Central Australia and the Top End.
A total of 1399 cases of influenza have been confirmed in the NT in 2023, three times the five-year average. The Territory also has the nation’s highest flu rate (513 cases per 100,000 population) — almost double that of second-placed Queensland (228 per 100,000).There have been 231 hospitalisations and five deaths associated with flu across the NT this year.
